August is quite a quiet month here in the city, locals head off on their vacation, and believe it or not A LOT of businesses close for the month…But fret not, we have gathered some of the coolest things to do in Barcelona in August.
El Pez 20th Anniversary
El Pez is one of the most famous street artists to come out of this wonderful city we call Barcelona. Returning to Barcelona for this wonderful occasion, El Pez is partnering with Base Elements Urban Art Gallery for a live show with augmented reality. Partnering with Beyond Street Art app, El Pez´s anniversary is set to be a stunning evening. Besides his signature artwork, Pez has invited some of his closest artist friends to create collaboration pieces with him to celebrate his anniversary. These are artists like Keis, Kenor, Blob, Chainoir, El Xupet Negre, Birdie, Kamil, Slomo, Ovni, Zosen, Chan, Jloca and Soem.

DGTL is a festival experience full of discovery, inspiration and surprise. Through music, art and production, they tantalize visitors and keep them hungry for more. Throughout the year, they seek out the latest technological innovations and most exciting advances to create an unforgettable festival experience. Festa Major de Gracia
Throughout the summer months, each one of the neighbourhoods in Barcelona holds its “Festas Majors,” a neighbourhood celebration. The Gracia neighbourhood is famous for hosting the very best parties. The entire neighbourhood competes to decorate its street in the most original and fun way, which results in the neighbourhood becoming a fantastic theme park every year, with impressive decorations made from recycled material. It is a whole week of concerts every night, children’s activities during the day and much more!

Outdoor Film Festival Sala Montjuïc
A selection of the best movies of all times, with concerts, picnics and short films. A perfect blend of classics and recent independent film are screened here three times a week throughout July and into August, transforming the grassy moat of the Montjuic castle into an outdoor cinema. Bring a picnic and turn up early for the jazz band.

The biggest international gay and lesbian event, along with its sister act, Girlie Circuit (Aug 9-13, 2019), is nearly two weeks of parties and music, plus so much more: literary readings, talks, debates, workshops, documentary film festivals and lots of good sporty fun with football tournaments, beach volleyball, fitness courses, longboard outings and even yoga sessions, and lots and lots of people.

El Flea – Secondhand Market
El Flea is the largest vintage and second-hand market in Barcelona and is located next to Las Ramblas, in front of the Maritime Museum. Pop by for a walk and find that dress that will cost you less than 5 euros that you to wear all season long. Or stumble upon that vinyl you were looking for years ago, or maybe even an old camera. If you are in search of the lost treasures this is the spot for you. But, above all, go to buy second hand: Buying second hand gives consumers the opportunity to combat the waste produced by fast fashion, be a part of the change.
