Every September since 1981, people from all over gather to celebrate this creative culture at the FiraTàrrega. An international performing arts market showcasing the very best and unique expressions of creativity, from street to live performing arts. Día de Cataluña
Barcelona, the capital city of Cataluña has a rich history and culture which it’s inhabitants have a strong connection and pride in. No time is it more evident than the 11th September, the Day of Cataluña. This public holiday is held in memory of the those who perished in the 1714 war of Spanish succession, where Cataluña was besieged by the French Bourbons. It was first held in 1980 when the Autonomous Government of Cataluña regained power and symbolises the resistance to oppression and the hope of recovery. Everything in the city is pretty much closed, with marches, festivities and parties celebrating this historic day. So if you want to experience and learn about the Catalan history and culture, there’s no better time than the Day of Cataluña.

Music festivals have become a staple of summers, but have you ever heard of a music festival on wheels. No? Well, Skate Love is a one of a kind unique festival held in Barcelona every year. This rock’n’roll festival brings the best emerging talent in the scene to Barcelona for three days of headbanging fun, you’ll bloody love. Taking the stage at the iconic Sala Upload concert hall will be musicians from USA, Spain, Netherlands and Ireland. So get ready to rock out till you knock out, it’s the Game Beat Weekender baby.

Barcelona Wine Festival
Few things come close to a nice wine, whether it’s with food or just a glass to relax. If you agree with this, then you’ll feel right at home here in Barcelona. The city and larger region have a very rich wine history, from it’s introduction by the Greeks and Romans to the winemakers who operate today. At this event, you’ll be able to sample the very fine wine of Cataluña, as the best producers of the grape goodness descend to the city for the annual Barcelona Wine Festival. La Mercè Festival
The blistering Barcelona summer is coming to a close, as the cooler Autumn months creep in. Nothing quite marks this shift than the iconic La Mercè Festival. First held in 1902, this annual festival is an ode to the changing season and the city’s Patron Saint, Mare de Deu de la Mercè. It’s one of the most important cultural events of the year, where the streets of Barcelona are transformed for four days of festivities, both weird and wonderful. These include fire runs, human towers, a parade of giants, food, drink, art, music and stunning projection show at the Plaça Sant Jaume.
